Closed Organic Supply Chain

From cultivation in our certified organic farms in Puglia and Basilicata to bronze-extrusion and slow drying, Bioland manages the entire process. Our pastificio is located in Gravina in Puglia, with wheat grown in “Contrada Secundus” and “Piano Miele”, Matera.

Small Batch, Stone-Milled, Bronze-Extruded

We produce 200 tons of pasta per year from 350 quintals of durum wheat. Ground in-house using stone millstones, our semolina is transformed into pasta using traditional bronze dies and dried at low temperature for 24–48 hours.

Organic Legumes for Crop Rotation

Bioland also cultivates legumes like lentils and chickpeas, adopted in rotation to preserve soil fertility and ecosystem balance. All our products are certified organic.

A niche product, for only 200 tons of pasta a year, made from durum wheat grown organically and also sold abroad, where especially like to Irish, English and German. It is the organic pasta of Bioland of Gravina di Puglia, near Bari. A biological chain pasta factory who works hard wheat varieties " Senatore Cappelli ", cultivated in the two organic farms of the two partners, Maria Teresa Leone and Michele Loiudice.

The two, husband and wife, take care (with their children) the whole chain of organic durum wheat: from cultivation to processing to production pasta to finish the marketing. The durum wheats are grown in the companies of the two spouses: the first is in the countryside of Gravina di Puglia, in "Secundus" district, and is extended almost 20 hectares , and the second is in the countryside of San Mauro Forte , in Matera, in the district " Honey Plan "and" Don Philip "(around 80 hectares).
The Bioland is a certified organic farm since 1993 and Michele Loiudice follows, first hand, all stages, from cultivation to harvest the wheat, the corn transformation in flour, homemade pasta, biscuits, bread and other derivatives. Introduced nearly 5 years ago, the paste obtained from semolina of durum wheat is handcrafted and is produced in many sizes ( orecchiette ,cavatelli , ladies,   cavatellini , girolles, underwires lucani) . Since 2006 the company has also equipped with its own mill of millstones - before the grinding was done in a mill with millstones certified organic located in the province of Pescara - whose scope is limited (maximum of 500 kilograms per hour), and which is intended to transform the company production of durum wheat and of ancient varieties almost non-existent in the market, wholemeal flour and non-integral. The Bioland get a paste of semolate of hard bronze extruded wheat that is dried at low temperature in 7 formats ( fusilli , penne rigate , rigatoni, tubes , twins, spaghetti , linguine ) and which packs together all'imbustaggio of flour andlegumes .
L ' company in fact also produces pulses that are adopted in the rotation system such as lentils , chick peas and chickpeas , always cultivated in accordance with organic farming methods. Every year the production of durum wheat has nearly 350 quintals which yield an average of 200 tons of organic pasta sold abroad (especially Ireland, England, Germany) and 90% in Italy, especially in the Center- North . "All of our organic products, from pasta to semolina, flour, legumes are sold - explains Filippo Loiudice working in the farm with her parents and other siblings -
from Rome up. The development of biological products consumption is still slow, but grows gradually. " The distribution channels are the Bioland organic specialty stores and buying groups.
